Editor's Note
Welcome to Volume 1.0 of Equine Leadership.
A collection of short stories sharing the voice and wisdom of the horse.
“Horses possess the inherent ancestral ‘knowing’ of the collective. It’s an instinctive sacred circle of care and safety - a holy and protected space, which they generously summon us into through an interspecies invitation.” Eleni Argy, Sacred Circles
I couldn’t have offered a better invitation to welcome you to our collection. We are so blessed to have sixteen authors from around the globe sharing stories, poetry, insight, wisdom, and the voice of the beloved horse. Each author shares the vision of Equine Leadership. We believe that horses, living as close to nature as possible, can provide a paradigm of living that is clear, authentic, and heart-based. This paradigm can assist humanity in creating a brighter future.
Our theme is Horses Colouring in the Space for Humanity’s Tender Evolution. We know that evolution is a gradual process of change. When we think of tender evolution in humans, we are invited to explore that space with compassion and gentleness. And nothing on earth can do that better than the horse. The poetry and prose here share a plethora of journeys along that evolutionary path of the heart guided by the herd.
In The Horse Told Me To Keep Walking, Anita La Selva shares her journey from loss to abundance with a horse named, Spirit Walker. Eleni Argy, in Sacred Circles, takes us to the herd and the power, protection, and grace of the collective. Georgie McBurney takes us to the stars in, Three Grey Ponies and how astrology helped her understand her connection to these beautiful beings. From Doing to Being, by Kelly Jones, is an important story of transforming our doingness to a gentler way of Being. Judy Brightman shares The Journey from Separation to Connection as guided by the horses. Tina Turner takes us on a beautiful journey through life and death with Freya’s Story. Wendy Price gets to the H.E.A.R.T. of the matter in To Oneself Be True. Patrycja Linden’s piece entitled Ibérico and I offers the story of contraction and explanation for both horse and human. In Horses are Relationship Masters, Suzanne Carter offers practical relationship advice from the horse. Only The Horses Can Bring Us Back Home, told by Mena Canonico, is a gentle story of three humans guided home by three horses of her freedom herd. Michaela Slade takes us on her healing journey in The Felt Sense of Connection with Horses. We travel with Stephanie Sawtelle on an unconventional journey through time with her horse, in How Time Works. In Their Bonded Hearts, Lynda J Watson, explores how our two herds are connected through different frames of being.
Our three featured poets, Debbie La-Haye, Murray Bruce, and Pat Hutchinson, offer deeply felt and deeply personal pieces that will open our tender hearts to connect with the hearts of the horses. The Herd, Murray’s Message, and Divine Intimacy each offer gentle guidance for humanity.
You will notice that many of the stories have a feature at the end of them entitled: Equine Explorations. This is for you, dear reader, to explore the wisdom within the article on a personal level if you are called to: reflective questions to ponder, short meditations to sink into, and deep considerations to contemplate. We hope you enjoy this added feature.
The theme of this collection is Tender Evolution, and with that, we were guided to make a rather large evolutionary step for Equine Leadership. This publication (no longer a magazine) will now be available around the world as it will be published on KDP/Amazon. It is now: A collection of Short Stories sharing the voice and wisdom of the horse. A community of sixteen authors creating a brighter future for all. This is quite an exciting evolutionary step for us, and I am grateful to all of the artists and authors for their support and excitement in this next phase. More to come on that in the very near future.
Thank you for reading, exploring, and sharing Equine Leadership. We hope you are embraced by the equine herd in their environment and begin to understand something new and ancient at the same time: something that is wild and familiar, something that, if we let it, will lead us home to our authentic souls. All guided by the horse.
“As humans are introduced to horses and learn to enter their world, a beautiful unravelling begins to unfold.” Kelly Jones, The Journey from Doing to Being
The horses, authors, and I invite you to read on and let the unravelling begin.
From our open and loving hearts to yours, Lynda J Watson and the Tenth Anniversary EL Team.
