Eighth Edition
Welcome, to the Eighth Edition of Equine Leadership. The theme this year was left very open, but you will see that each title is similar. THE - OF -. Each author was encouraged to explore their hearts and their horses' voices with curiousity and write about what was in that for them, what was in their hearts. What beautiful wisdom came from that curiosity. And each of the wonderful authors takes us on a journey with the horses that will settle into our hearts and provide us a space for peace, reflection and enlightenment. Please enjoy our Eighth Edition articles. If you are reading this, know that the horses are calling you to share their wisdom and paradigm of living. I hope you heed the call.

MAY HORSES BE YOUR GUIDE
Feature Page
By: Mary-Joy Johnson, UK
There is a window into the wholeness of our being. Some of us have the privilege to not only sit at
this window, but to open it fully and climb through it into a ‘mindful’, ‘bodyful’ and ‘senseful’
experience of the world. As I read through these pages I see this deep privilege that we humbly
hold and work hard to share.

THE WHISPER OF REVERENCE
Reverence found within the quiet of the herd
By: Greta Matos, Chile
The cold breath of dusk kissed my nose as I felt myself slowly emerging from my dream state. Through my cheek, which lay gently atop an extra fleece bundled into a makeshift pillow, I could feel the weight of the horses’ hooves landing on the soft soil. The herd was close; not only could I feel the slow, soft drumming of their hooves on the land, but the rhythmic sound of their chewing began to fill my ears. I sat up in my sleeping bag and scanned the dark valley before me. As my eyes adjusted, the shapes of seven dark figures emerged.

THE FIELD OF LOVE
By: Gabriela Ostendorfer, Canada
The scene never ceased to surface emotional intensity front and centre. A slight constriction in her throat and then warmth flooding down into her heart area. Always the same place in her body. Always the same place along the gravel road, just around the corner after the community hall. The road dipped then crested a hill and before her the scene of rolling foothills framed by distant mountains and wide-open sky.

THE SACREDNESS OF CARETAKING OF THE HERD
By: Nancy Gerson, U.S.A.
There may be myriad of deficiencies in my understanding of myself, others, or the world at large. There may be countless graces I receive without taking notice. However, with those deficiencies and graces, my awareness of the sacredness of caring for my herd is never lost on me. It is never taken for granted.

THE COLOURS OF STILLNESS
Exploring the palette of horse-human embodiment
By: Eleni Argy, Australia
When the student is ready, the teacher appears.’ There she stood. A lone horse in a field.
This messenger from the divine arrived to birth me into my highest consciousness, granting me self-acknowledgement in its purest and most inspired form. Through her sheer presence, she gazed into my soul with a truth that was both invisible and tangible all at once.

THE HONOURING OF A HORSE'S FREE WILL
By: Sue Dixon, Canada
I have been privileged to witness how horses communicate what their desires are if we afford them the respect of listening to them. I have found it is when we become mindful that they share their wisdom freely and generously.

By: Kate Neligan, U.S.A.
Horses remind us of who we can be. They require presence, evoke awe, celebrate authenticity, and help us to awaken to our true nature. Just being and breathing with them can help us to reset the nervous system and to feel unconditionally loved and accepted.
