Editor's Note
Welcome to the Eighth Edition of Equine Leadership magazine with nine stellar articles from nine brilliant authors from around the world. Come, have a chair and sit with us for a while. Listen for the voice and the wisdom of the horse. Each article covers a different aspect of the horse~human connection yet with beautiful through lines that speak to the needs of humanity. I have always been amazed at how a theme presents itself. The only guidance the authors were given was in how to title each article. The _ Of _ . That was all. Other than that, they were asked to be curious as to what was in their hearts and what their horses wanted to share. The through lines this time, were space and the sacredness of that space. Words such as pause, sacred, nurturing, reverence, awakening. It feels like these are words, feelings and spaces that the world needs right now.
Our vision at Equine Leadership has always rested in the belief that horses, living as close to nature as possible, can provide a paradigm of living that is clear, authentic and heart-based. It aims to broaden the scope of the horse ~ human relationship by sharing that model of living which can move us towards a more peaceful and positive world. A paradigm that can assist humanity in creating a brighter future for all. Animal, nature, human, the planet ~ ALL.
Edition Eight starts with our Feature Page, May The Horses Be Your Guide by alumni writer, Mary-Joy Johnson. Greta Matos then takes us on a beautiful journey across the land with her family and horses in The Whisper of Reverence. In The Field of Love, Gabriela Ostendorfer shares the story of a woman looking for and finding her freedom. Judy Brightman tells the stories of three ponies and the wisdom they have to share in The Power of the Pause. Patrycja Linden and Tori Poe collaborate on a beautiful piece, The Felt Sense of Nurturing. Each sharing their story of being supported and supporting alongside the herd. In The Sacredness of Taking Care of the Herd, Nancy Gerson shares her personal and sacred rituals she has created to deepen the bond she has with her horses. The Colours of Stillness is a sharing of one’s life’s journey. Eleni Argy takes us from finding that special equine teacher to becoming a special teacher alongside equines. In The Honouring of the Horse’s Free Will, Sue Dixon shares the horse~human connection and how each communicates to create respect and freedom. Kate Neligan has written The Awe of Horses to create awareness of awakening for both individuals and humanity and how the horses play such an important role in that. The Collectiveness of Individuals closes the line-up with a deep look at the equine paradigm of living. Penned by myself, Lynda Watson.
Thank YOU, the reader, for hearing the voice of the horse. Thank you for listening within to hear the whisper. You are here. I hope you absorb from these articles what it is you came here for. Although we often don’t know what that is until the horses speak and we are ready to hear. There is so much love and compassion for individuals and humanity in these articles. I wish for you to feel it as much as I did when putting them all together. Thank you to the authors and the horses. Their contact information is with each article. Please look them up, reach out. If an article or the whole magazine touches you, please ‘share it forward’. Our vision is to make the horse~human connection accessible to all. Thank you to our editor, Pat Hutchinson and to those that assisted with formatting, modelling, listening and sharing. We can see a better world for the individual and the collective when we share the voice and the wisdom of the horse.
