Ingrid shares her story for The Paris Kollection:
I was the youngest of four children in a family of parents who had immigrated to Canada from Germany. We were born into a family where hard work and strong ethics were instilled in us. We grew up with an entrepreneurial spirit and an I can do anything frame of mind. In our formative years we had no concept of social, gender status or inequality. For forty-one years I have been married to my high school sweetheart and have two daughters and three beautiful grandbabies. As far as a career, I started with Computer Sciences in information technology and went from Programmer to Director of IT in my first twenty years. I then moved to consulting work in 1999. The next twenty-five years saw me working with companies to implement software systems. When I started work as a consultant, I also found HORSES! I found sanctuary at the barn and my time spent with them. I started with one horse and then added more. Eventually, I decided to breed Andalusians as they were very few in Canada and their beauty captured me. We bought a farm in 2007 and spent the next eleven years living with the herd of 10 and enjoying our own Oasis. In that time, I found the work of Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning (FEEL) and decided to certify so I could share the magic that I had found with the horses with others. My spirit awoke when I found horses and my life changed, my purpose shifted. I have studied in and taught Animal Communication as well. In that time, I have also authored a book and shared the magic of the horses with over a thousand people that came to our farm. In 2023 I retired from consulting and I am dedicating my time now to share the wisdom of the horse.
Doing things that I love and finding new things to love have been the best part of my elder life. I love to be continually learning, adapting and making the most out of everything. Some challenges in regards to the passage of time have been the physically, I have bad arthritic knees and can’t hike as long or do other physical things like I use to. My mind is still forty-five and I want to do everything but just can’t. Now that I am retired, I have been doing some things I love but had put on hold for my whole working / family life such as music and painting and crafts. I recently found jewelry making and love it. Also, I am spending more time with the horses and facilitating equine learning sessions.
I have always wanted to ‘Make a Difference’, in my career, at my farm, with my children and now my grandchildren. I would love to do more FEEL work with children to open them to self-love, worthiness, emotional intelligence, empathy and compassion in this crazy social media world.

“Doing things that I love and finding new things to love."
When asked what were some of the societal constructs about aging that she would like to see evolve, Ingrid shared: I believe heathy aging is so important and more natural approaches to it need to be emphasized.
